All hair is beautiful, but some hair types need more care than others. These are our top hair tips for thick, frizzy hair.
We’re going to let you in on a little secret — we all wish we had different hair. You might envy that girl at work with seemingly flawless, flowing straight locks, but odds are she’s got some hair envy going on, too. There’s something undeniably beautiful about natural, thick, curly hair, but we understand it can be a bit of a battle to keep the frizz at bay.
Here are our top hair tips for thick, frizzy hair — and how you can make the most out of your natural look!
1. Choose a Sulfate-free Shampoo
When was the last time you checked the ingredients on the back of your shampoo bottle? If you’re losing the fight against frizz, look for one without sulfates. They strip and dehydrate your hair, which will irritate your frizzy locks. Instead, pick one with lots of glycerine, which hydrates your hair from the inside out, creating a protective coating over the hair shaft.
2. Conditioner Is Your Best Friend
Don’t skimp on the conditioner! You want a conditioner with hydrating ingredients, like argan oil and shea butter. Apply generously to the ends of your hair and leave on for a few minutes before washing away.
3. Deep Condition from Time to Time
Once a week or so (especially in the colder months when our hair is dried out by the central heating), indulge in an intensive conditioning treatment. A hair mask will help to lock in moisture and fight frizz. You can use some of your Untamed Argan Oil as a pre shampoo treatment to keep your locks in tip top condition.
4. Don’t Over Dry Your Hair
We love hairdryers, they are fantastic styling tools. But what you don’t want to do is over dry your hair and undo all the mane taming goodness you’ve injected into your locks. Stop blow drying as soon as your hair feels dry to touch, don’t keep going!
5. When You Do Blow Dry, Use Argan Oil
Let Argan Oil be your best friend! Your hair needs protection. Say goodbye to frizzy hair with our hairdryer. It has a nozzle that infuses argan oil into your hair as it dries, meaning your hair gets a massive moisture boost, leaving it feeling silky soft and looking healthy and gorgeous.
6. Brush Your Hair Often
A great way to distribute much-needed oils from your scalp to your roots is through regular brushing. Use a brush with natural bristles, they are a bit more expensive, but they are worth it! It’s the natural bristles that sweep the oils that occur naturally on your scalp through your hair. Maximise what you’ve already got in the quest for beautiful hair.
7. Don’t Overwash Your Hair
Finally, a big mistake people make with frizzy hair is overwashing. This is a huge mistake, as too much exposure to chemicals and water can dry out hair. Instead, try to cut it down to once or twice a week. Plus, it will prolong your colour, too. Your hair will thank you for it.
